
Dr Katharine (Kathie) James
MBBS (Hons), FRACGP
Dr Kathie James is a highly experienced general practitioner and passionate medical educator. She graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland in 1988 (MBBS Hons) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
Her medical career began at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital, followed by general practice roles in Strathpine and Auchenflower. After several years working in Sydney—just in time to experience the 2000 Olympics—Dr Kathie returned to Brisbane in 2004 and joined Ashgrove Avenue Family Practice.
Dr Kathie has been involved in teaching medical students for many years and now also trains general practice registrars as they specialise in General Practice.
Her clinical interests include women’s health, preventative care, chronic disease management, aged care, children’s health, and mental health. She values collaborative care and refers patients to colleagues with expertise in areas such as skin checks.
Outside of medicine, Dr Kathie enjoys spending time with her husband, adult children, and dogs. She is a strong advocate for daily exercise and particularly enjoys walking and cycling.
Dr Kathie is not taking new patients at this time.
